Dear Members of the Diocesan Family

The Reverend Canon John Simons:
I made a mistake in the last Bulletin for which I sincerely apologise. John is the Canon elected to the St. Luke Stall. The induction is this coming Thursday 12th November at 5pm.
Everyone is invited. The service of installation will be held in the Chancel of the Cathedral. At present the new sound system is being installed.

The Parish of Charters Towers:
It was announced yesterday that The Reverend Greg Windsor will be the new Rector of Charters Towers, with St. Paul's Charters Towers, St Aidan's Pentland and Ravenswood.

We welcome Greg and Rhonda back to the Diocese and we assure them of our prayers. Greg was ordained in this Diocese and has ministered in a number of parishes here in North Queensland. Greg is currently the Rector of St Paul's Stanthorpe in the Diocese of Brisbane, a position he has held for the past five and a half years. No fixed time has been set for the induction but we are looking at the evening of 24 or 25 January and focus on St. Paul. Greg and Rhonda are moving from one Parish under the patronage of St. Paul to another Parish under the patronage of St. Paul.

Trinity Anglican School:
It was announced last Friday that the Principal of Trinity Anglican School (TAS), Mr Christopher Daunt Watney will be retiring from the position as from the end of the year.

Both TAS and the Diocese have been blessed because of Christopher's ministry among us. Christopher is a very gifted person and he was able to connect the current educational thinking to the life of the School. Christopher's Speech Night addresses were inspirational. Christopher will be greatly missed but we assure Christopher and Annabel of our love and prayers and wish them well for the future.

Mrs Margaret Kennedy will be the Acting Principal until the appointment of a new Principal commences. We assure Margaret of our prayers at this time of transition. We also pray for the School Board as they make a recommendation of Principal to me as Bishop.

The Reverend Mark and Mrs Sandy Evans:
I thank Mark and Sandy for their locum ministry at St. Margaret's West Cairns. Mark and Sandy will conclude their ministry there on Friday 20th of this month. We welcome back The Reverend Don and Mrs Carolynn Ford from Long Service Leave and Annual Leave on Saturday 21st November. We pray they have had a truly blessed time, they are refreshed and their batteries have been recharged for ongoing ministry.

Year Twelve:
It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is rapidly approaching and another cohort of Year 12 students will be graduating. I ask parishes to pray for our students and teachers as the schools conclude and we particularly pray for the Year 12 people and their families.

Wontulp-Bi-Buya College:
Last Thursday seven students graduated from Wontulp. We congratulate them and assure them of our prayers as they explore their future ministry.

This has not been an easy year for Wontulp, but I thank the many people who have worked hard to make the academic year the success it has been, in particular the Principal Reverend Victor Joseph and the staff as well as The Reverend David Thompson who has been overseeing the new constitution for the College.

Meetings:
There are a number of meetings this coming week. On Thursday the Cathedral Chapter will be meeting from midday to 4.15p.m.
Diocesan Council will be meeting on Friday evening and Saturday.

The Diocesan Treasurer will be representing the Diocese at the Registrar's Conference on 16 & 17 November. One of the main items on the agenda is insurance.

Poster - Reporting Sexual Abuse - contact numbers:
Please see the attached. If your Parish does not have this notice displayed, please make sure it is in all worship centres.
I am aware that in some parishes the notices have become tattered and fallen down and not been replaced. It has been brought to my attention that this notice is not displayed in all worship centres.

If you need a notice please use the attached. I am urging all parishes to laminate the notice. If you do not have access to a laminator please contact the Registry. I have a number of laminated notices with me as I travel around. Please ask.

Prison Chaplaincy:
Please find an attachment from Archdeacon David Lunniss, Coordinator for Anglican Prison Ministry – Queensland, in regard to Prison Chaplaincy.

The Registry also received the attached email from Chris Fairbrother in regard to the Angel Tree Programme for children of Prisoners. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Education for Ministry (EfM) Information Night:
EfM is a four year study course based on the Scriptures, as well as exploring theological developments. Students enroll one year at a time. There will be an EfM information evening held in Mackay on Friday 4 December at 7.30pm at St Ambrose Hall. There will be training sessions on that weekend in the Parish. For further information in regard to the new programme please contact Mrs Deane Bray on 07 4942 1557. Prospectus attached.

Please be assured of my prayers as we celebrate Christ the King and prepare for the season of Advent.
Yours in Christ,

The Right Reverend William (Bill) Ray
Bishop of North Queensland
